This is Lontong Cap Go Meh. Cap Go Meh/ Cap Goh Meh literally means the fifteenth night.It is the mark of the end of lunar year celebration for the chinese. Cap Goh Meh is celebrated differently in Asia. In Taiwan, they celebrated this day with lantern, while in Southeast Asia this day is noted as Valentine, where groups of single ladies are participating in the throwing orange to the sea as a ritual to receive luck in romance. I no longer participated in any of the rituals plus I am married, but I really enjoy this special dish made of compressed rice in steamed banana leaves, coconut milk, eggs, chicken flakes and chips.
